I really am excited to see a lot more family vlogs here here on Noob Tube & am promoting so hard to make that happen! I think it will be an asset in the sharing pages for people with channels like mine to have more people who are interested enough in family vlogs to want to give feedback on them. Bless @ThroughHugh's heart, he's the only one who's commented on any of mine. (Thank you so much, buddy!)

There is definitely a big difference & a different fan base between "regular" vloggers & us family vloggers. The biggest difference being length. An average vlog is usually 4-8  min. But in the world of family vloggers.. more is the norm. Popular examples being: RomanAtwoodVlogs (20+min vlogs) Cullen & Katie, Daily Bumps, Ellie & Jared (all between 12-18 min vlogs). Kids are cute to watch.. therefore diehard fans of popular family vlog channels get genuinely ticked off when their favorite YouTuber puts out a short (less than 10-12 min) vlog. It's funny to read the comments on the rare chance that happens, people lose their minds!! Here on NoobTube, I've noticed long vlogs getting critiqued quite a bit, and in the normal vlogging world, I think that seems appropriate, but there is an exception to that rule.. us crazy family vloggers! I do try to keep mine shorter, I mean, I could easily have my vlogs be over 20min each day, but I *try* to stay around 12 min or less since people are just getting to know my channel. I know that seems crazy long, but it's pretty conservative for my genre.

The point of all of this is #1 to educate any non-family vlog fans when critiquing family vlogs here on NT. And #2 to say I am VERY much looking forward to having a larger family vlog presence on this site. I really do think once that happens, we'll need our own section, because although it's all considered "vlogging", family vlogging is entirely a different beast. I'm not sure about combining it with fitness channels, other than the two "F"s do flow together. However, I don't know where else you would put them anyway, unless you started an "Instructional" section.  As far as family vlogs go, I hope I can play a part in helping our presence grow here on NoobTube.

It all depends on the content in our vlogs, that the length even matters. We will do longer sometimes if the content is interesting enough but after 200 videos I have honed in on 8 to 12 min. It really seems to be the sweet spot for me, time wise..longer, more editing. I do have short updates and silly things we do also, that helps mix it up. I think vlogging both general and family can stand on their own.

You're absolutely right. The entertainment value of the content is definitely the deciding factor of the length. And usually with kids.. there's a lot of entertaining clips to include!! :) I've had vlogs as short as 4-5mins if it was a lazy day with not much going on & then I've had vlogs that, unless divided, could be 45 minutes long!! For instance our recent trip to Cedar Point. I broke that beast up into a 3-parter, because it was such an eventful day. I initially planned to post one vlog, between 15-18 min to YT & have the full length video saved as a personal home video, but it turned out so awesome, that I felt I was robbing my subscribers of something really special not giving it all to them. Overall, I'd say 12 minutes is my average. I try to stay under 15 mins as much as possible, & now with the kids back in school.. it'll be easy. Usually schoo days will most likely barely make it to 10 min. But, when all the kid are home on weekends & school breaks, it can get long & honestly, that's okay. I think family vlog fans are used to that & tend to feel that more is better.

This is something I really struggle with as a creator and viewer. Honestly, anything over 10 min and I am not super interested in watch so my daily vlogs end up only being 5-7 min which I know should be longer!
